After spending a lot of time on Koh Lanta, one of the most common questions I get from blog readers is about accommodation on Koh Lanta. They want to know which part of the island is recommended to stay in and which hotel is the best, nicest, most worth the price and so on. The answer is always “it depends”. Are you traveling solo, with your partner, or with your family? What’s your budget? Do you want to stay close to the sea or more secluded up in the hills? In this post, I’ve gathered a whole bunch of accommodation tips from the northern part of the island down to the south. Now it’s up to you to decide which place you’re most curious about!

Accommodation tips in Koh Lanta (& good things to consider when choosing a hotel)
General tips for choosing accommodation on Koh Lanta
Before the specific tips, here are some general things to think about when looking for accommodation:
- Start by thinking about which area and beach you want to stay near, for example by reading a detailed beach guide.
- Forget huge hotel complexes! Compared to places like Khao Lak, Koh Lanta doesn’t have large all-inclusive resorts. Most places are smaller resorts with bungalows, apartments, or houses, which I personally find refreshing.
- Good rental agencies to check out include Jo Jo Lanta Rentals and Lanta Hideaways.
- Don’t be tricked by fake booking emails. Sometimes people encounter fraudulent booking emails. Please make sure you book through official apps or websites.
- Know the seasons. The tourist year on Koh Lanta is divided into low, mid, high, and peak seasons. Prices for accommodation can vary a lot depending on when you go. If you want to keep costs down, avoid peak season (around Christmas and New Year).
- Think about what standard you want and be prepared to pay accordingly. To save money you can choose Thai-standard rooms with a fan instead of air-conditioning, or simple toilet setups.
